Great observation. I was on opioids for some ten years. Being an RN, I understood addiction and didn’t get trapped in it. In fact post bilateral hip replacement surgeries, it was the lortab that helped me break through the pain and regain my health. I went to the YMCA for a number of years. Swam 60 lengths in the pool( best time was half hour), did the Nautilus circuit, half hour on the elliptical and sometimes the reclining bike. I was cut off abruptly from 1.5 tabs/daily of lortab for pain management by that pendulum swing of ideology around 2017 and have lived with pain ever since. I had moderate relief from full a spectrum hemp product and later stopped the medical marijuana program. I recently found an effective aruyvedic formula called Ortho-Nil and when things get really uncomfortable for me pain wise, gratefully I have that. I get it through blusheild.com where it is third party tested. It is criminal not to treat pain; for many of us chronic pain leads to depression and a lack of exuberance/ joy for life.
Forced-tapers, complete loss of access, or flat-out denial of proper, appropriate opioid pain relief kills patients, from known increased risks of excessively high blood pressure that is non-responsive to BP meds, medical condition collapse, medical complications, heart attack,n stroke, and suicide. We suspect that hundreds of thousands of patients have died over the past decade as a direct result of the unscientific, unnecessary, inhumane opioid restrictions.
This was an excellent review of so many aspects of a society that has lost its way and is in the throes of death. Some of us will survive this. It truly is a battle between God and Satan.
