Thank you Dr. Horowitz, for your service to humanity. I would like to offer a correction to your claim about "addictive and deadly opioids.". EVERYTHING the government has told us about opioids is a LIE. Over the past decade or more that unscientific opioid restrictions have been in place, untold harms and deaths have been caused to chronic, intractable, trauma, cancer, palliative, hospice, and surgical pain patients. The CDC even admits that "prescription opioid medications" were incorrectly blamed for the parabolic rise in the number of deaths beginning in the early 2000's, which was caused by heroin use and illicit fentanyl analog compound poisonings. The CDC was captured by a group of anti-opioid addiction psychiatrists, Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing (PROP), and even today, there are CDC employees with influence over the prescribing guidelines who are members of this group - an ethical violation which must be rectified. A comprehensive, peer-reviewed study of the government's own data show that far less than 1% of patients prescribed an opioid ever go on to have any substance use disorders. Therefore, the assertion that "everyone" is "equally at risk for addiction" is patently false. The vast majority, over 99% of patient take their medications as prescribed, recover, and move on with their lives. Mere exposure to a substance does NOT cause "addiction," and the government is ignoring psycho-social and socio-economic factors that are the primary causes of addiction. Patient outcomes were NOT tracked when this agenda was rolled out to restrict access to proper, appropriate opioid pain relief, and we have no reliable data yet about the vast harms and deaths caused to patients from forced-tapers and sudden loss of access to their medications, from medical complications, condition collapse, high blood pressure that is non-responsive to BP meds, known increased risk of heart attack and stroke, and increased risk of suicide. We suspect that tens of thousands of more patients have died as a direct result of these unscientific opioid policies that are based upon a minority medical opinion, and not a concensus among medical professionals. We have attempted numerous legal actions, and the most recent is this Administrative Procedures Act Section 553(e) Notice to Dept of HHS of a Request for Review of the Public Health Emergency Declaration in the Opioid Crisis, for which we have no response to date:
If we are unable to get these issues resolved amicably, we will have only one recourse left - a District Court lawsuit. We need media coverage, legal representation, and public outcry to affect change, and a restoration of safe, effective opioid pain relief, especially for the most sick, most injured, and most disabled among us, who have been ripped off their medications for no valid reason, tortured, and many have been killed - and the government seems perfectly fine with this outcome and refuses to take responsibility or to reverse course, after having been notified repeatedly about these harms and deaths being caused to patients. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in uncovering the corruption levels, possible RICO violations of the PROP doctors who mistepresent data and who propose outlandish theories about opioids (the most recent claim being that millions of Americans who take their medications exactly as prescribed have "opioid use disorder," which was refuted by other doctors after that claim was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. We want policy to be based on verifiable SCIENCE, not political agendas. The opioid restrictions have not reduced overdose deaths from illicit fentanyl analog compound poisonings, the stated purpose of the restrictions, because the persons taking those drugs are a completely different cohort of patients than those taking prescription medications while being followed by a doctor. We want to save patients' lives, and the liberty for all patients and doctors to make health care decisions without unlawful government interference. Thank you for your attention and consideration.
